Set forth below are items reflecting the clear consensus of the attendees: a. Efforts should be made to stop enactment of the 0.06% lead-content standard. b. A professional lobbyist will not be retained. c. NPCA will present testimony at the next scheduled public hearing on any of these bills. This is expected to be in the next week or so before the Senate Public Health, Welfare, and Corrections Committee on S. 472. (S. 472 is, in effect, the Chicago Ordinance) . Note: Despite the absence of volunteers, I still consider it extremely important that several Illinois manufacturers also appear and lend further support, d. The testimony on this bill will be limited to seeking an amendment to the 0.06% provision and will not seek amendments to the provisions dealing with the all-inclusive "fixtures" or the labeling requirement which technically applies to all paint over the prescribed lead limit industrial as well as residential products, e. Additionally, the possibility of getting a member of the House to offer amendments to H.B. 794 at its second reading (probably during the week of April 23rd) was also considered.
