Hodges - E1SF Late last year, we began a cooperative program with the Monsanto Medical Department on developing methodology to verify that workers In our plants are not being exposed to hazardous levels of a wide variety of organic chemicals. The procedure involves a portable sample collector which is worn by the worker during his regular work shift. Sampling times from 1 minute to 8 hours have been used. Collected samples are later analyzed by GC or GC/MS In our labora tories. During this summer, we plan to carefully validate this procedure for 20 or 30 organic chemicals of particular Interest to Monsanto. We plan to do this using simulated 6 hour exposures with levels from .1 to 10 times the threshold limit value for each chemical.
