J. M. Barnhart reviewed (a) "Report of the Proceedings of the Twenty-First Convention of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers", held at Chicago, 111., September 5-7, 1967, (b) Dr. I. Selikoff*s testimony before the House Select Labor Committee, and (c) a legal case in Charleston, West Va., involving the misapplica tion of a duct wrap (it was used to line a sheet metal duct). John Boyer reported on the legal aspects involved in coses of product disparagment and negligence actions. The opinion was expressed that the effects of publicity on alleged health hazards of industry products should be a matter of most serious concern to all members. It was agreed that the following steps should be taken: 1. Develop'a product and installation standard for duct liner. 2 2. Evaluate and publicize duct liner installations that are in ex istence throughout the country, including union installed, and mechanical contractor installed Jobs. 3. Obtain an air analysis of existing duct liner systems (Amount, size, distribution of fiber, etc.) . 4. Educate SMACNA, sheet metal shops, and SMWIA with respect to proper installation techniques. 5.
