February I, 1957 MEMORANDUM TO: Mr. P. L, Mo Intyre Mr, Carson of the Erie City Iron Work3 reported today that the boiler at Madison Plant is No* R22, It Is a 25-horse power, horizontal return tube boiler Installed In 1927. It has 310 square feet of heating surface which under the Ohio Code does not require a constant fireman in attendance. Boilers having 360 square feet of heating surface and over, requires a constant full-time fireman under the Ohio code. The telephone number of the Company in Erie, Pa., is Erie 2-6421. Mr. Carson is sending a catalog to our office here and one to P. 0. Box 86 at Madison, Ohio. I placed an order for six 3 x 4&n gaskets for the drain plugs to be shipped Parcel Post to Madison, Ohio. They will be shipped Monday and should arrive on Tuesday. Mr. Carson said the boiler is designed to operate at 15 lb. pressure but thinks that we should operate it efficiently and more economically on 5 lb. of pressure. I inquired whether it would be economical to install a gas burner in placeo. the stoker. Mr. Carson said that would be economical aha that, if possible, the gas burner should be installed above the stoker without removing the stoker In order that, in case of emergency, the 3toker could be used.
