Matheson ^ DATE: January 4, 1989 SUBJECT: DRAFT COMMENTS ON OSHA ANPR "CENERIC AIR MONITORING STANDARD" Attached is the rough draft of comments on OSHA's announced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPR) for a Generic Air Monitoring Standard. It is felt that the regulations would apply to any material for which OSHA has adopted a Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) excluding those materials for which a specific standard has been promulgated (eg. asbestos, benzene). OSHA anticipates that the generic exposure monitoring standard would establish performance criteria for an acceptable program on such issues as frequency and accuracy of monitoring, workplace sampling methods, recordkeeping and employee notification of monitoring results.
