Monsanto Fund Awards Toxicology Grants Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Comparty, has given 1980 ' Monsanto Fund toxicology fellowship grants to five universities ( University of California/San Francisco, University of Wisconsin/Madison, Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Michigan, arid University of California/Berkeley). The toxicology grant program was initiated in 1977; a total of $500,000 over five years is being made available to U.S. universities for study and research in toxicology. In the four years the program has been in existence, Monsanto Fund has awarded a total of $410,000 to various universities. The remaining $90,000 will be awarded in 1981. The program is intended to help increase the number of qualified professional toxicologists. College Loans for Monsanto Employees The company has available a Monsanto Student Loan Program. Through U.S.A. Funds, Inc. and the Chase Manhattan Bank, the program offers low-interest loans to help pay educational expenses of U. S. citizen or permanent resident children of Monsanto employees. Transportation Department has issued "The Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Guidebook" to provide help during the initial phases following an accident. The guide, oriented to highway and railroad spills, indexes hazardous substances, tells the kinds of risks they pose and what to do about them.
