r r V\ MINUTES OF SAFETY MEETING
LABORATORY
A group safety meeting was held on Friday, October 18, 1985, at `IT: 00' a.m.
in the Laboratory Lunchroom. Charles Dorsett presided over the meetingr,/
The attendance list is attached.
^`
Dr. Hoenes opened the meeting by stating that last week the Laboratory had 1 First Aid Case and 2 Off-.the-Job injuries. This was the second First Aid Case for the year with a goal of eight. As of today there have been twelve days lost for Off-the-Job injuries. The maximum is twenty-six days for a six month period.
Dr. Hoenes turned the meeting over to Charles Dorsett. Charles stated that the memo that was received for the gloves for working with Vinyl Chloride stated the wrong I.D. number. The gloves are in the process of being a regular storeroom item,
A film made by all laboratory employees was shown. The movie "Safety Crackers" was a safety film about safety in the laboratory.
Charles turned the meeting over to Hub Cooper who spoke about the confusion betweeen the fire alarms and the area alarms. Laboratory employees do not need to respond to area A and C alarms unless they are very bad. All employees meet in the center hall in response to an area B alarm. Fire alarms are evacuated by employees exiting through the nearest door and regrouping outside with your own supervisor groups. Hub pointed out that the Emergency Squad has all precedence in emergency situations. Also if you are in a motor vehicle in an area that has area alarm, turn off the motor and evacuate with rest of areas employees.
There will be a new yield sign on the Lab Loop Road which connects with the main road by the end of the day.
Charles asked for any comments. Gretchen Ridge suggested that a light be put in the Laboratory parking lot. Charles said the safety committee would look into this.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
