W. B. Papageorge - B2NK - General Offices February 8, 1972 Terra Society - PCB Article H. S. Bergen E. V. John W. R. Richard J. F. Stapleton W. R. Corey Attached is a copy of a letter from the Terra Society seeking a suggestion for an author of a PCB article to be included in a proposed book. The Terra Society is a fairly objective environmentalist organization which is well known and respected, particularly in the Great Lakes States. I have attached a copy of descrip tive literature. The proposed book does not appear to be the proper forum for publishing new scientific data, for example toxicity results, animal tissue PCB residue results or biodegration data should we decide we are ready to publish this type of information. The article Terra is seeking should be a review of the available PCB Information. I believe we should avoid getting Monsanto too involved in this activity but we should help select an author who could prepare an objective article. I propose that we recommend Dr. Carl 0. Gustafson, Kings College, Brlarcliff Manor, N. Y. as the author. Gustafson's PCB article which appeared in the October, 1970 issue of Environmental Science and Technology is the one we are sending to our customers. I believe we could help him correct some of the misunderstanding he may have and also Inform him of the current PCB situation. I would appreciate comments from all recepients. WBP:gw W. B.
