EXPENSE ALLOWANCE FOR EMPLOYEES TEMPORARILY. ASSIGNED TO UNION CARBIDE BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS PLANT OCTOBER 9, 1973 EXPENSE ACCOUNT PROCEDURES ENGINEERING DIVISION U^35\) Supplementary Information - Travel and living expense allowance for engineering employees temporarily assigned to Union Carbide Corporation's Brownsville, Texas plant. For the personnel working on the Union Carbide Corporation project, a travel and living expense policy has been established. In some instances this policy may vary slightly from the normal travel and living expense policy because of the particular circumstances involved with this project. Until further notice the following guidelines will be followed: A. All employees on temporary assignment of less than three (3) months duration will be on a reimbursable expense basis and will be governed by the policies set forth in "Expense Account Procedure - Engineering Division" manual revised July 1973. Expenses to be limited to actual reasonable cost. B. After the first four (4) weeks, a weekend visit to Houston can be made by the employee. The project will pay for the cost of the transportation by public carrier and incidental expenses related to the trip. A second trip can also be made at the end of eight (8) weeks of temporary assignment. C. All employees on temporary assignment of more than three (3) months duration will be on a reimbursable expense basis for a settling-in period of not more than fifteen (15) days. After this period the employee will be on a per diem status as follows: 1. An amount not to exceed $250.00 per month for lodging* A receipt substantiating cost of lodging must be provided. If two or more employees are on temporary assignment on single status and elect to share expenses, the maximum allowed for lodging will still be $250.00. Union Carbide has the option to provide lodging if available. Any fees, deposits, or other similar costs relating to lodging but not recoverable due to the convenience of the project are reimbursable and chargeable to the project. 2. Reasonable allowances for furniture rental, if required, is chargeable to the project. 3. Per diem equal to $13.00 per day to cover food and incidental costs 4. Allowance for use of personal automobile while in Brownsville will be $75.00 per month. For travel outside of the Brownsville area on company business, the rate will be the standard*^. 12 . par mile. If the employee wishes to move his family to Brownsville, the policy governing relocation of employees will prevail. Due to the temporary nature of the assignment, cost to move will be limited to reasonable expenses for moving minor and miscellaneous household goods such as: kitchen utensils, linens, clothing, etc. This will involve no greater expense tnan rental of a trailer or cargo carrier for transport of these materials. D. All out-of-pocket expenses for travel outside of the Brownsville area when requested by the client, will be handled on an expense account basis and will be governed by the policy set forth in the "Expense Account Procedure - Engineering Division" revised July 1973.
