Sachle, Dear Dr. Machle: We are shipping as of this date a sample of sludge from Texas Company's tank Ho. 2179 at their Lockport refinery. This tank was in Ethyl blending service until a number of years ago when it was removed and placed in service as a run-down tank, without having been cleaned during the change-over. Your copy of the tank history record on this tank is complete and gives you full information. The sludge in the bottom of the tank was piled up to a depth of eighteen inches at some points and was also to a depth exceeding the height of the suction spider in the tank.
