Y# are, there fore, submitting a list of recommendations which ve understand were completely discussed. " * \ * 1. The screen guards covering the two wall fans should he replaced hy evenly spaced vertical iron rods. This will prevent the fib res from matting in front of the fans reducing theif efficiency. A frequent cleaning program on the guards should also ho instit uted. _ .VJUImr Tgg<L?jn!m 2. An air tight connection should he made between the Vlllewer in let and the feed elevator outlet. This will Insure -a greater con trol velocity ia the feeder hood proper. 2a. The feeder hopper should he enclosed as auch as possible, so as to direct and oonfins whatever dust is generated within the high er velocity air flow into the Yillower through the feeder outlet. * Tsrtical Opener and Preparation Area . 3. The dust generated hy this operation should he confined to this area. The volume of air into the opeasr inlet is approximately ' 1100 C.7.K. The air flow carrying the dust generated can he directed into the opener hy means of side and overhead enclosures or directing baffles. It is recommanded that the space between the opener and the wall he closed off. An overhead canopy locat ed at the top of the opener and extending over the preparation area e~d to the north wall should he Installed. This will leer e hut tvt, sides open and direct the dost not only from the prepara tion area into the opener, hut also that dust which may he gen erated lyom the 'feearby crusher. At present practically all of the dust generated hy the Yillower, the vertical opener the crusher drifts into the mixer-picker area, hy reason of the gen eral air flow of the room to that area. Should this method of control not he efficient for control'of the duet generated at the crusher area, the following will he requir- , ed. Mr, O.E.' Eubbard April 23, 1946 2- 3au A local exhaust rent listion *7at an should ho lastall* d on tho pan crusher This siay he accomplished h7 installing a ringi type exhaust duct around tho dmsher hody and extending ep- proxiaately Tour inches above the idge 0/ the pan, A voluae of air equivalent to 150 eu. ft, of Air per square foot of qp- en pan area should provide suffloient control. ' Card Soon ' . - 4. The feeder boxes on the easel hack cards nov emit dust. These should he provided with. exhaust ducts to maintain an inlet Tel ocity of not less than 75 X.7.K, Self-closing eounter-veighted doors can he installed and the feeder hopper held under nega tive pressure to prevent the escape of dust. Spinning Soon (Top floor) . 5. The two cards should he enclosed as much as possible or a sys tem of ducts installed to control the dust generated by these unite. The dust generated is from the feeder box, doffer combe, brushes and rolls. . Slna Spinners and Twisters - 6. It is suggested that control of duftt on these machines he aeeosplished by enclosing the sides under the ring rails and bob bins as much as possible, A system of exhaust ducts located un der and in the center pcrtfion of each machine unit should ex haust sufficient air to aaintain and control the dust generated. 2&SBI 7. The looms should be provided with a system of local exhaust vent ilation to control the dust generated by these units, Zxhauat System . . 8. Ihe present lover dust exhaust system kaovn as the north and south units are not functioning as intended, file velocities in the branch pipes and main are inaufflcient to convey the dnst properly. Telocity measure; tats In the south unit tail branch leaving the card had but a 15uD l.J.X. air velocity. Th* north unit amia hnA a velocity of 3000 and the eouth unit but 2700 I.7.H. It vas not ed that the north unit had an incorrect inlet connection resulting in the fan blades being improperly loaded. The fan vas, therefore, not delivering its full capacity at the speed it vas being run. It is suggested that this be corrected as discussed at the time of the conference. If there is any further information in this or any other matter relating to e health of your vorkrers, please to not hesitate to call upon us. * Hr. G.E.
