These forms are used by us for our lead workers and we believe comprise the usual information desired. They all wear respir ators. These three men have been recently employed. ^*he re maining men work in the shot tower where shot is made. The following is given as a brief occupational history of the men. Worked in-shot tower for many years. Present operation, chief dropper. Was removed from the shot tower in February because wb felt he was getting increased exposure. Has been doing general work around shot tower since 1939. ..From 1914 to 1917 was boss of tower. Recently in last six weeks been dropping shot. Prior to that had been tending kettle for the shot droppers. Since the return of your report his job has been changed from shot dropper to gen eral work at the bottom of, the tower, handling pigs of lead. General work in plant since 1939 In shot tower since January 29, 1943. Has worked about shot tower for many years in all phases of activity including shot dropping and all the kettle work. Also in manufacture of scum (metalic lead oxide compound). I (2) Working; about shot tower for a number of years.Has not recently been dropping: or over the kettle. Hew employee. Has been chiefly en gaged in manufacturing lead scum mentioned above end tending melting kettle, adding nigs of lead and scran svot to melt. We have very stringent rules concerning cleanliness, washing thoroughly before eating, change of clothes etc., which we enforce on all these men. Respirators are used by the d.ropners and by the men feeding the kettle as well as by others who are exposed to lead dust. As seen from the occ upational histories, several of these men have worked in the shot tower for years. However, recently the work has been such that increased exposure to lead fumes and dust has prob ably occurred. Should you desire any additional information on any of these men, please advise us. It is intended that you either have or will receive urine and feces samples on all of these men. We w3sh to thank you for your co-operation in this work.
