ESBAF is a newly formed ad--hoc coalition of SMEs that utilize fluornpnlymers across diverse, and complex 6urnpean supply chains and standard chemical processes_ At present, WRAF counts nine SMEc among its membership, covering various stages of the manufacturing supply chain, all of whom have only recently been alerted of the potential impacts of the PFAS restriction proposal and who are underrepresented in Brussels. It appears to us that the restriction proposal in its current form does not f ly take into account the indispensable role of fluoropolymers used by SMEs in Europe's complex supply chain. Even for strategc sectors which have, derogated end-uses, the existing proposal threatens to bring manufacturing to a standstill due to the lack of viable alternatives fcr vital components such as valves, gaskets, and seals. The potential repercussions on EU industry, particularly on SMEc which form the backbone of the EU economy, are deeply concerning.
