Thomas - Toledo This meeting was held to bring together the various ideas concerning the best method to control dust containing asbestos at the Berlin plant. Two men from J-M ware present who have been responsible for their dust control program. The meeting was quite candid and the men were understandably critical of the inadequate ventilation throughout the plant. They pointed out many areas which needed change and with great candidness suggested the change they would install. Engineering from Toledo described their approach and whet they had planned. 1 indicated ay concerns vers simply to lower the dust level of asbestos containing dust to be consistently below the Threshold Limit Value. 1 pointed out this at the present time is 5 million particles per cubic foot. However, the Threshold Limit Values have published 2 million particles per cubic foot as the intended change which would go into the accepted list in a year. 1 think realistically we have to engineer to be below 2 million particles per cubic foot. 02 417 0026 Memo to Record -2' February 28, 1969 Mr. Scheuerle reviewed each aspect so that the engineers had a clear understanding as to the problem and requested that they look at these problems both from a standpoint of noise attenuation as recommended by Mr. Bradley and Dr. Sabine, from our acoustical laboratory, as well as the sir borne particulate.
