KDA-2U58 Blue 35 Thank you for the information supplied in your letters of September 12 and 16 on our Swimming Fool Liner compound, ISA 2ix58 Blue 35* 1 agree that our low order of toxicity would be considered as safe for its intended use but unfortunately, I'm on the wrong end to push for approval. My intention in writing you, originally, was to alert you to a call from the National Sanitation Foundation concerning information on our Pool Liner material. We were told by Mr. Manny Frocht, Attorney for Chafco Pools, that he was writing to N.S.F. and asking for approval, at the request of the Kentucky Board of Health. The fact that you have not heard from N.S.F. is disturbing since your name was supplied, by the writer, as the proper person to contact in our organization. In my Report of Call on 8/27/58, I reported the Goodyear formulation which was supplied to Mr. Frocht by the Goodyear representative. It is possible that N.S.F. is only working with our competitor's compound and this could be our undoing as Chafco Pools are currently purchasing their liners from Flastimayd who are one of our customers. In view of the above possibility, I vrould like to suggest that you contact N.S.F. at Ann Arbor and specifically ask for approval for the use of our IHA-2U58 Blue 35, as a Vinyl Fool Liner. Nothing can be gained by my giving our formulation to the Kentucky State Board cf Health as they will approve its use, provided that it has the approval of N.S.F, Also, in keeping with our policy, I don't intend to divulge our formulation to Chafco Fools as I obtained the Goodyear formulation from them and it was plainly marked Confidential. I'm sure that you are aware of the selling tool that can be achieved by having our compound approved by the State of Kentucky, through the National Sanitation Foundation, and again urge that this matter receive top priority. Teague, Commissioner of Health for the State of Kentucky, in which representatives of pool fabricators, Chafco Pools and suppliers of plastic pool liner sheeting were present. The meeting was called by Mr. Manny Frockt, Attorney for Chafco Pools, to solicit official approval for vinyl liners as a replacement for paint in public pools. As expected, the toacicity angle was discussed and it was stated by the Health De partment that they would give their approval if the vinyl liner was given the green light by the National Sanitation foundation. Mr. Manny frockt intended to write to NSF in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and I took the liberty of supplying your name as the proper person to contact in our company for toxicity information. This was a very interesting meeting in that a public official went on record, in simple language, and everyone came away with the feeling that NSF would give their approval, and that Kentucky would become the first state to officially approve the use of a vinyl liner in swimming pools. Since other suppliers are involved, I would like to urge that all available information be given to NSF so that our KDA 21*58 will be included when approval is given. I'm sure that you can supply all the information from our files, however, the attached brief write-up, which is strictly a sales tool, is attached for your perusal.
