Bagley, Stan Mooney On March 10, 1971 1 sent to you a good deal o Information regarding the new Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 which becomes effective April 28, 1971. Included In this information was a copy of the Act along with a copy of the Walsh-Healey provisions which will be followed until such a time as the Labor Department develops new standards which will supersede those of the Walsh-Healey Act. I have had some communications suggesting the possibility of the Woodward Safety Department publishing a book of rules which might be followed by the plants. We could do nothing more at this time than to duplicate the new Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Walsh-Healey Act. I assume that by now you have passed this information on to your supervisors and individuals who will be responsible for safety in each of your plants in order that the necessary steps may be taken to assure compliance. I am sending you today a letter dated March 19, 1971 from B. E. McGarrahan of The Mead Corporation covering the subject of noise control and hearing conservation.
