Worstell MEMORANDUM v ,y f January 3, 1983 North Charleston Interface fifcf'Veo JAl'i u, *.N 6, I stopped at a North Charleston service station on Friday, December 31, around 1:00 p.m. and detected a very strong chlorine odor. I drove by the terminal and saw no activity, so I stopped by Mrs. Navy's house. She said FMC had a "large chlorine cloud release" that morning and Mr. Beard was aware of the problem. She also said Mr. Beard indicated FMC could be fined and he had even considered evacuating the community be cause of the release. I had a nice visit with Mrs. Navy and Mrs. Davis. Needless to say, they were very upset with FMC. Mrs. Navy said FMC should take a lesson from UCC and become a "good neighbor". I don't wish FMC any bad luck but it was nice not being the center of controversy. Howard Quick and Mrs. Brady remain "public enemies" number ^ and 2, re spectively, because of the RR gate controversy. Mrs. Navy indicated they had a lady who was going to run against Howard next election and she couldn't wait to start compaigning for her. She again said the gates wouldn't last long if erected. Will keep you posted. UCC 099102
