Dear Mr. Wallace: I am glad to advise you that on April 8, your Policy Committee on Standards met to formally receive and consider all phases of the various points and enumerations of policy made by you for your department as contained in your letter of February 8 to this Committee. , Your Committee carefully noted your comprehensive analysis of your departments attitude and resultant policy statement and wish to congratulate you on the broadness and deep consideration you have given to this Committee's recommendations embodied in their original report of June 1 and following report of December 22, 1945. The Committee especially commends your recommenda tions of a joint conference committee of the A.S.A. and certain groups of your department as set forth by you. We have been advised that this step has already been taken and the first preliminary meeting has been held with very beneficial results tending towards the goal suggested by you. This Policy Committee herewith gladly accepts your request that this Policy Committee on Standards continue to function as an advisory group to you and to the Department of Commerce.
