The following information was obtained verbally from the facility personnel unless otherwise noted.
Process Description:
Meyer Steel Drum, Inc. (the facility) is located at 3201 South Millard Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. The facility receives empty drums from food, coil, surface coating, spent oil industries, industrial solvent manufacturing, and chemical industries around the Chicagoland area via trucks. Empty metal drums are washed, cleaned, repaired, painted, and then resold into the market.

EPA toured the facility: Yes
Data Collected and Observations:
EPA perceived a strong odor inside the plant. EPA observed a very high concentration on the Method 25A Volatile Organic
Compounds (VOC) analyzer. EPA observed a poor capture of vapors from the first solvent washing line based on the
smoke tube readings by a stack testing contractor. The facility has 5 wash lines - Lines 1 and 2 are for solvent drums, 3 can shared between
solvent drums or oil drums, and lines 4 and 5 are always for oil drums
