The purpose of the meeting was to discuss VCM and PVC problems with Barry Barnes of ICI and Auguste Gosselin of Solvay and to determine how a cooperative effort with American producers could combat emerging OSHA regulations and maintain a world supply of PVC. Discussions centered around MCA's relationship to NIOSH and ACS's recent testimony endorsing the government's proposed VCM levels. The results of Professor Maltoni's work, which appear to be the most significant available and which have been funded by ICI and Solvay, are getting into U. S. hands where they are then being subjected to U. S. interpretation. Barnes, Gosselin and the entire group felt strongly that the proper interpretation should come directly from Dr. Maltoni and that it should be submitted in the form of a statement into the OSHA hearings. Barnes and Gosselin agreed to set up a meeting with Dr, Maltoni next week in an attempt to accomplish the above. W. L.
