Issued by Refinery Division of the PIIBR1CO Company Chicago. lit The Pipe Line Volume Five Issue Ho. Two June 10, 1957 Refinery Division 55 Vest 42nd Street New fork 36, New York ABOVE AVERAGE There smbs to be quite e bit sore interest being shown in your Refinery Division contacts lately! Thanks a lot for this, bit of your tint. This past nonth should be one of the largest, tonnage-wise, of any previous May since 1953. Did you benefit any by reading your first "Pipe Line" since December 1955? Ve discontinued these issues due to lack of interest on your part. Let's not slow down now - There is a lot of work to be done. NOT "PLUtf' SAHSFIB) As a result of published statistics on poundages credited to various territories, ve received a letter fran our good distributors up St. Peal way. They tell the story pretty veil, so ve quote frcB their letter: *Xa reeding the recent issue of the ''Pipeline," ve noticed that our total poundage for the year 1956 in refinerlee was only 1500 lbs. This caused us to asks a thorough check of our jobs and billings and ve found that during the year 1956 ve sold 133,400 lbs. of naterial to refineries. Unfortunately ve have bean aarking all our billings, where we have specifically at the Zaks Superior Refining Co., Superior, Wisconsin, dene work on crude oil heaters along with repairs to the boilers which of course are an integral part of the refinery, and I asstae would be credited to the refinery division,n After listing dates, invoice mabers and tonnages to prove that they were not airing any idle atatwsnts, the Pita Co., further states: "Ve hope that this Bakes Plibric Ksnegeaent a little bit sore happy with the refinery division." THE PIPE LINE -2- Thanks a lot for those kind words as well as helping us to keep the records straight. Perhaps you will be "Plum" satisfied next tine. CHECKINS UP In Issue No. one of the nPipe Line1' we mentioned the revised distributor-plant survey that is ready for you at your asking. This was a "sneaky" way of checkin* up on you fellows to see if you are really reading the "Pipe Line", and taking advantage of all information offared by the Refinery Division, Fifteen out of fifty is a pretty good average for us, we are happy that we had that many requests for this survey. What you wen do not know is that the first nan to sake this request, won himself a new hat, now I suppose Bill Fulton will want a "tea-gallon" job for T-S-X-A-S when we pay off. Tea, he was the first oos. Ferris Kiahall sad Frank Schaefer were olose runner-ups. They received gifts too. There are still thirty-five territories that have asl requested this information. How shout youj INDUSTRY NEWS RELEASES He discontinued sending industry news releases to the Refinery Division distri butors sow tine last year. You apparently have not Kissed this information, published Monthly, by the various industry trade journals and papers. No one has requested this service fron us sines lest Noveober. How do you keep posted an the various pending jobs in your territory? There is a lot going on. Better checkHX Did you cheek your "sales tool" list in Issue No. One? THE PIPE LIKE -3- MAJOR REFINERS Do you know there are twenty oil refiners in these United States who operate 110 plants with rated capacities of thirty thousand barrels or Bore per day thruput. Like all companies who have multi-plant operations, each "MAJOR" as they are known, depends on information and experience fathered at their individual plant levels to establish general aaterial standards and engineering procedures for their particular company. Under this heading, in the next few issues ve will outline the names of these companies, showing home office location, plant location and rated capacity of each refinery. When we show plant location, we will also show the distributor or representative handling this particular plant, for Plibrico. As pointed out above, exchange of information between plants and even companies is quite rapid in this industry* We better follow thru and let interested Plibrico sen know what goes on with respect to any wlti-plant (refinery) operation in your territory. Team Work is the only way we can ever hope to whip the competition. Will you try! ESSO BCDtEERDC AMD RESEARCH We have recently been requested by Esso Sigineerlng tt Research, Material Test Section, to furnish complete data on all Plibrico products recoBsended for use in their process unit linings. These process units are. Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Hydroformer, Poverformer and Fluid Coking Units (delayed)* Sato licenses these units to all major refiners and or engineer-contractor groups. Plibrico materials are listed in Esso Research Mechanical Specifications B-18-4-1, Rev. ?**. The listed naterials are Plicaat Yerilite for insulating components and Plicaat Petro-Hix (Tuff-Mix G) for the dense castable components. We hope that after presenting this complete product data, ve will be listed as an acceptable supplier of ertrw erosion naterials* Do you have complete information on these newly developed naterials? Perhaps you would also like to know with respect to physical characteristics, which category each one of these naterials fall into* Here's how ve rate them* Mild Abrasion Plicaat Petro-Mix Plicaat 15-R (1200 F. max* ) THE PIPS LINE -4- Medina Abrasion -- Plicast AR Ceneat Plicast Petraneat Bgtreae Abrasion -- Plicast Silicon Carbide Plicest Flitab (trowl) Plicest No. 40 To girt you sews idee sho is usiac these aeterial* sad short, we attach copy of our latest sendee trial-user Surrey, of these anteriels.
