Butler was referred to me. I can appreciate your concern regarding PVC resin; the answers 1 can pro vide to your question* are Itemised below. 1. Neither Conoco Chemicals nor the Manufacturing Chemists Association has medical epidemiological or toxicological data regarding the use of polyvinyl chloride resin. 2. The residual amount of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) In the Conoco Chemicals PVC resin or compound shipped to you is less than 0.1 weight percent. We have not routinely measured the residual VCM; the value reported is based on a few samples analysed recently. 3. We have no meaningful data at this time related to heet Induced release of VCM during PVC extrusion. Ve plan to obtain data from labora tory extruders in the very neer future to better define potential exposure to VCM. 4. I have enclosed e copy of NSP methods for determining removal of sub stances from PVC pipe: "Procedures for Chemical Extraction (ChemicalPhysical-Organoleptlc) Evaluation of Plastics." 5. 1 cannot make specific recomssndetlons regarding sampling the work place.
