The insulation as received by the insulators comes in straight lengths. Before it can be installed on pipes, a certain amount of cutting and fitting is necessary in order to fit the insulation around pipe connections. Samples were taken during the cutting and fitting opera tions and installation of the insulation on the brine lineso A general room sample was taken in order that the values obtained in the vicinity of the insulators might be compared with the general dust level. A midget impinger equiped with a shield to keep out large particles was used to obtain the samples. Water was used as the collecting medium. Counts were made with Dunn cells using the standard light field technique .
