Industrial Hygiene Asbestos Exposure Monitoring
Attached are the results of the Asbestos exposure monitoring performed on F. R. Creech on February 10, 1987. He was monitored while stripping 2 Reactor Heaters from 770-237 Autoclave Lab using glove bags. The stripping was done in a designated room, located in Building 777. He also spent approximately 3 hours in Building 740 fan loft.
He was equipped with disposable coveralls and an A0 R57-A HEPA filter, half-face carrtridge respirator.
The exposure monitoring results indicate that the levels were well below the 0.1 fiber/cc Action Level, established by 0SHA for an 8-hour workday (TWA8).
Please notify F. R. Creech of his exposure monitoring results as soon as possible. Please have him sign and date this report and return to M. A. Patel at Building 701-330.

Stripping approximately 100 feet of old pipe insulation. Items lying on concrete pad were wetted with a hose, employees wore respirators and protective clothing.

More water should be used to wet the insulation before stripping. Those stripping and bagging should always wear their disposable dust respirator while in the area and until the cleanup is finished.

The concentration of fibers was as great the second day even though the men had been advised to keep the insulation well watered.
