Do not mix more than can be used in 36 hours, application: With a semi-flexible broad knife, generously "butter" the joint with joint system com pound, working it well into the joint. Shear off the excess material. Press strip of GP tape in the cen ter of the joint. Smooth down firmly into the compound, remove excess cement and level into an even surface. When the first coat is dry, cover with joint compound. Shear off surface, leaving a smooth joint. When dry, another coat over the entire surface ensures best results. Allow 24 hours drying time and then sand carefully with fine sand paper for a smooth finish. For best results a vinyl primer should be applied before decoration. G-P asbestos free patching plaster mixing: Add G-P patching plaster to cool or cold water and stir to a putty consistency, free of lumps. Generally the larger the patch, the thicker the putty should be. surface preparation: The areas to be patched must be clean and dry, and free of loose particles. Enlarge small cracks by cutting out old plaster to form an inverted "V". Dampen the entire area to be patched with water to promote adhesion between the old plaster and the new. application: Small cracks and imperfections are filled by using patching plaster with a thinner consistency and forcing it into the cracks with a broad knife. Use the broad knife to "shear" off any excess plaster. Large holes and imperfections require two coats. Apply the first coat so that it nearly fills the area being patched. Allow it to harden. While there is very little that can be done to alter temperature and humidity under job conditions, care should be taken to note the average differences in drying times under different atmospheric conditions, so that problems may be minimized. Joint treat ment products must be thor oughly dry before successive coats are applied, and/or final decoration is applied. In all cases, a well ventilated area assists in the proper drying of these materials.
