Lake Asbestos of Quebec Ltd., a subsidiary of American Smelting and Refining Company, plans an output of 5,000-ton-per-day from its Black Lake property, also in Thetford Township, which it is dewatering. In addition, CareyCanadian Wines is replacing the existing Quebec Asbestos Corporation mine and mill at East Broughton with a new mine and mill with a capacity of 2,000 to 2,500 tons per day.
