We are writing with regards to the upcoming Chemical Strategy for Sustainability. We wanted to share with you the joint feedback provided by several associations from the packaging and printing value chain. See it enclosed. Our main concern with the upcoming strategy is the proposed one substance one assessment approach. We understand the driving force behind it but at the same time we are worried that this will be an oversimplification into the direction of hazard assessment. In our view the risk assessment approach used for food contact materials should be maintained and if possible to also use the information available in the hazard assessment, this will be an added value.
