Fleming opened the meeting at 9:30 a.m. 1* Minutes of the September 24, 1963 meeting were approved sub ject to the following amendment: Page 238 Item 10 change "The chairman then appointed the following subcommittee to prepare the new edition" to "The chairman then appointed the following subcommittee to coordinate the preparation of the new edition". Mr. Kli*g~advised the group that a few chemical companies have maintained contact with fire insurance companies on an in dividual bast's and undertook to give a further report at the next meeting. 5. MCA Semi-annual Meeting Panel on "Organization for Emergency," It was generally agreed that the panel had done a very commendable job but that an attendance of 60-70 did not justify the work involved. 6. Revision of "Guide for Safety in the Chemical Laboratory" Mr. A, H. Christian reported that the subcommittee will meet with a representative of the publisher, D. Van Nostrand Co., Inc., xn New York on January 6. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the scope and objectives of the revised edition and to agree on procedure. 7. Guelich SD-12 Carbon Disulfide CMA 012860 248. The proposal was discussed in some detail. Material of this nature is currently-available from the National Safety Council. In any event, it was_ thought desirable to limit such an activity to the chemical aspects rr off-the-job safety. There is too seme question as to whether company managements are prepared to support such a pro gram because of the possibility of it being interpreted as interference with the private lives of employees. The chairman appointed a sub committee of Mr. Albisser and Mr. Spence to make a recommendation at the next meeting as to the development of the off-the-job safety pro gram. 7. 35 mm slide Visual Aid Safety Program Mr. Kling was unable to be present to report on the activities of the subcommittee. Slides and commentaries are being prepared covering two or three "sample" subjects. Mr. Cobb stated that he is preparing slides and commentaries dealing with "tank entry" and with "tag and lockout" and hopes this material will be ready for showing at the next meeting. Mr. Queener and Mr. Guelich demonstrated slides and systems for " possible use in this visual aid program. 8.
