Equipment and Materials Required for Test: ... a. Bendlx C115 pump. b. Charger for pump battery. c. Charcoal adsorption tubes. d. Connecting hose. II. Instructions for Sampling: a. Charge battery for 16 or 64 hours, whichever is conven ient. Note charge rate switch on.side of charger. Do not attempt a survey without first charging battery fully. To charge battery: 1. Loosen two screws on top of pump and two screws on bottom of pump. 2. Pull cover off exposing battery and mechanism. 3. Unplug connector on right side of battery, and plug into charger. 4. Plug charger cord into 115 volt 60 Hz AC source. 5. DO NOT OVERCHARGE BATTERY AS REPEATED OVERCHARGING SHORTENS'BATTERY LIFE. b. Attach pump to worker's belt and place sample hose aiound worker's neck as shown in Diagram I. c Break off both ends of sampling tube. Connect tube to hose so that arrow head is at hose end. The charcoal tube should be mounted vertically, open end facing down, on the worker's shirt, in order to obtain a personal sample. See Diagrams I and II. d. Operate the pump at 1 liter per minute. CHECK PUMP FLOW RATE PERIODICALLY AND ADJUST IF NECESSARY. !au] AP00040586 Page 2 e. To set pump flow rate: 1* Adjust the flow rate control on the pump to give the rotometer indication required for the charcoal adsorption tube operating at 1 LPM. f. Run the pump for 15 to 30 minutes. Exact timing and flow rate are important. g After test is completed, remove hose and glass tube and cork the test tube. h. Fill in all required information in log book. i. Recalibrate pump once a week with wet test meter and retain calibration data in log book. , j. Required Information: 1. Date: 2 Pump Number: 3. Location: 4. Person Monitored: 5.
