PLAINTIFF'S EXHIBIT After the period of soaking has elapsed, work up the mixture with the hoe in the usual manner, adding sufficient water as you go along to bring it to the proper consistency. Instructions for Applying To insure the best results in applying US G Bondcrele on concrete surfaces, it is important that the following directions be absolutely complied with. If there is any sign of efflorescence on the concrete surface, thoroughly remove it with a wire brush, then wash the concrete surface with a diluted solution (1 to 5) of muriatic acid. Follow by thoroughly washing out the acid solution. Side Walls--First brush to remove any dust from the surface. Then apply U S G Bondcrete as you would any hard plaster, us ing rod and darby, bringing to a true and even surface to receive the finish coat. Ceilings--Ceilings to be well hacked, then brushed to remove the dust from the surface. Apply base coat and slightly broom immedi ately, leaving rough enough to receive finish coat. If three-coat work is specified, the second or browning coat must be Bondcrete and must be applied as soon as the scratch coat has had time enough to draw up a little. Do not attempt to darby after material has commenced to set or you will kill the face of the surface. Use water sparingly. Trowel Finish--As soon as the base coat has thoroughly set and developed sufficient suction, apply the finish coat in the custom ary manner. Float Finish--Apply as soon as the base coat is thoroughly set. Do not drench the work with water. Use a damp brush only. If a finish coat is not desired, the Bond crete may be left under the trowel for papering. Special Note--Do not mix more material than you expect to use in about one hour. Do not retemper mortar after it has commenced to set. Throw it away. Clean mixing box after each gauging, and do not mix one gauging with another. Use clean water only, and keep tools clean. Do not wash tools in barrel con taining water used for gauging. Keep temperature above freezing in winter. Keep out hot blasts of wind in summer, but as soon as plaster has set, allow free circulation of air. Should, however, the work show soft white spots after drying, wet up with a clean brush and water until these spots set up and harden. If plastering is done during damp or rainy season, use artificial or other means for drying out rooms after plaster has set. ____________ Package Bondcrete is shipped in either 100-lb. cloth returnable sacks or 80-lb. paper bags. The evaporation of water from the surface of the concrete continues for months after the concrete is poured and destroys the bond of any plaster not specially prepared to meet this condition. Bondcrete is a prepared plaster re quiring only the addition of water to make it ready for use. It is easy work ing and quickly applied. It provides a hard, dense, fireproof base coat that will take any trowel or sandfloat finish desired to correspond with the finish of other plastered surfaces in the same building. Bondcrete Plaster has been spe cially prepared to retain its bond with the concrete during the drying-out process, and at the same time permit , ' IIS yJ Rough boards should be used for concrete casting forms. Use no dressed lumber. Oiled boards must not be used under any circum stances. Caution The concrete surface must be in a suitable condition for plastering--it must be dry; it must not be smooth; all ceilings must be hacked; and it must be free from dust, oils and efflorescence before base coat of plaster is applied. Mortar To be Bondcrete Plaster, manufactured by the United States Gypsum Company, applied according to manufacturer's directions. Recommendations The manufacturer recommends that a fin ish coat only be applied over Bondcrete, but if three-coat work must be done, the second, or browning coat, shall be neat Bondcrete and thickness of finish coat shall not exceed half the thickness of the Bondcrete coat. Instructions for Mixing Water only is needed to fit this material for application to the work. Under no cir cumstances will the contractor be allowed to add sand or other solid material to the mix. Mix in water-tight box about 3 Y by 7 feet, raised about four inches at one end. If an old box is used, it must be free from dirt and lumps of old cement and plaster. First put water in lower end of box; then in upper end of box throw in the amount of Bondcrete that you have decided to use for one mixing. Now hoe plaster into the water and allow it to soak for at least 10 or 15 min utes without mixing. This period of soaking is necessary owing to the peculiar composition of Bondcrete Plaster. If not allowed to soak at this stage, the resultant mixture will prove "POOR' and will not work satisfactorily.
