INTERLOCK BYPASSING Comments received from the PMSB in November were incorporated into the new P-Bulletin on protective devices. In addition, portions of P-0123 on relief valves have been added. The PBulletin is now being circulated for final approval. 2. NEW PLANTWIDE SAFETY PROGRAM The LP&S superintendent reviewed a proposal for a program aimed at increasing safety awareness in the first quarter of 1982. SAC was favorably impressed and recommends he review it with the PMSB in December. 3. MANAGING and COMMUNICATING SAFETY PROGRAMS - SUPERVISOR TRAINING PROGRAM LP&S briefly described a new program aimed at improving one-on-one communications on safety. SAC requested more detail from LP&S at their January meeting. 4. STATUS of P-BULLETINS SHAC has studied all P-Bulletins to determine which need updating. LP&S and SAC reviewed SHAC's findings and assisted in assigning responsibilities for updating. These will be explained at the December PMSB. 5. Pappas Wearing of Hard Hats In Vehicles In Plant r7 At last months PMSB, SAC was asked to develop a policy concerning the wearing of hard hats in vehicles in the plant. The SAC Ccnmittee recan- mends that it not be manditory that hard hats be worn^in vehicles i^ich have steel roofs. Safety Showers - New ANSI Standards Bob Hanmann of L P & S reviewed the new ANSI standards pertaining to emergency eye wash and shower facilities and recaimended that five (5) features be incorporated into plant stations. Sane of these features appear to be expensive and give only marginal or questionable improvements. SAC in recommending that SHAC: a) Define a standard for new safety showers and eye baths in the Texas City Plant. b) Determine what, if anything, should be done to bring the current safety shower and eye bath stations up to OSHA and corporate standards c) Determine the need for and problems presented by making all shower stations freeze protected.
