Conditions at Shree Digvijay are as shown in a letter of recommendations written to Mr. S. R. Bhandari, General Manager of Shree Digvijay. Copy of letter is attached. On our second visit to Shree Digvijay (December 8-9-10) we met with Mr. Bhandari and Mr. B. S. Thakkar, Deputy General Manager. The following were discussed at the meeting. 1. Letter of recommendations - Shree is in agreement with recommenda* tions made in the letter. Items requiring major expenditures will need approval of their Board of Directors. 2. Mr'. Bhandari did indicate that the A/C scrap (sludge) piles near the plant entrance-would be leveled off and covered up during the vcctc of Decemoer 15trn 3 Mr Bhandari requested that we provide information and guidance * on*dust counting equipment - pumps, filters, microscopes, etc..' 4. Shree is asking for recommendations on the advantages/disadvantages of autoclaving. They have one small autoclave. Most curing is water cure. 5. During the week of December 1, an American named Bob Wyrick (who claimed to be a news reporter, but never showed any credentials) visited Shree Digvijay and asked to see the plant. He was told that he could not tour the plant, but that he could ask any ques tions he wanted to. He was later found trying to enter plant premises without permission and was asked to leave. 6. . Shree is having, problems with sheet production and has asked for ' our technical help. - 7. Discussion was held on cement quality. Since most of Shree's (and other Indian A/C producers) production contains only cement and asbestos, the quality of cement is of utmost importance. Most cements available to A/C producers in India come from coal fired kilns. The coal quality is poor and inconsistent, resulting in poor quality cement. We were given a copy of recent chemical analysis from Shree for comparison to cements used by JM on the vest coast. N o t e that Southwestern Cement in Victorville, CA. has recently discontinued it's coal burning operation.
