As a result of the High Hazardous Materials audit.It was determined that entry Into areas containing these materials needed to be controlled. Personnel from these HHM areas [AN-5 (Dept. 51), HCN Complex (Depts. 19, 23, 25, 27 4 29), Environmental Control (Dept. 513) - cryogenic ammonia storage area only, and EB (Depts. 13/14) - anhydrous HC1 area only] met and established a procedure for controlled entry. This entry procedure Is:
1. Permission to enter the area will be obtained from the chief operator.
2. Information will be placed on a slgnout board located In the control room. This Information will Include name, date, time, name or number in craft or group and area being visited.
3. When leaving the area, the chief operator is Informed that personnel have left the area and information Is erased from the board.
The only persons exempted from this entry procedure are unit personnel who have radio contact with the control room.
This will enable us to determine more accurately and effectively if personnel are in the area in case of a fire, spill or any other emergency situation.
Please ensure that all of your personnel are aware of this procedure and comply with it.
