I. SEARFASS - DEVON J. P. NICHOLAOU - SALEM 7-8-80 ASBESTOS INVENTORY- 73-L QUALITY Referring to your correspondence of June 30, Clem and I have discussed the concern you have about disposing of our asbestos yarn just as quickly as possible so that you can clean out all asbestos weaving with the completion of your Sitka order. As we see the picture at the moment, the 73-L yarn that is available to us will weave about 3 or 4 pieces of fabric which will not be difficult to designate as orders rather than weaving a stock piece. As for the disposal of our 1321-PB yarn used in the filling of Open Mesh fabrics, the picture has changed a bit since we dis cussed it just a few days ago. Our current inventory is about 27.000 pounds of this yarn. However, Bill Clark has asked for a 10,000 pound shipment which he feels quite confident can be sold in the Canadian market. With any success there, we may be able to dispose of another 10,000, which leaves us about 7.000 pounds to be consumed in Open Mesh fabrics. Clem's department is now making every effort to change from fiberglas to asbestos in those orders we feel it is perfectly sa^e to make the change. I feel optimistic at the moment that with this effort most of the remaining 1321-PB yarn will be dis posed of by early fall. HlSjblr c c : FJZ CBE 2AST06-057 45
