PURPOSE OF MEETING The joint meeting was called to discuss item3 in connection with l chemical safety data sheets of interest to both committees. II. ORDER OF PUBLICATION It was agreed that data sheets would be issued in the approximate order of the listing on the "Active Sheet List" dated 1/7A8 attached to the agenda. Following the publication of these, sheets will be prepared on the following products in the order listed: Hydrogen Sulfide, Tetrachloroethane. Lead and Soluble Lead Salts, Mercury and Mercury Compounds, and Beta Naphthylamine. III. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT SECTIONS 8.3 AND 6.5 It was agreed that Personal Protective Equipment would be described in section 6.5 and cross references to this section would appear in 8.3. Albisser's first draft of a proposed 6.5 Personal Protective Equipment model section was distributed. Comments and suggestions on this section are to be sent direct to Albisser with copies to the Washington office. IV. REPETITION OF HEALTH HAZARD SUBSECTION It was agreed that the Health Hazard subsections 2.3.1, lul, 5.1*1 and 6.1 should not be limited to a reference to section 8 Health Hazards and Their Control. L CMA 060009 M.C.A. 2' - - SC--Jj.6 ALLOWABLE CONCENTRATIONS It was agreed that a separate paragraph under 2,3.1 would diow the generally accepted maximum safe concentration in ppm where this datum is known. VI. EVE METHOD OF RESUSCITATION Drs, Foulger and Carlisle were appointed as a subcommittee to pre pare a leaflet on the Eve rocking and the prone pressure methods of resuscitation. VII. WARRANTY CLAUSE Dr, Cranch was requested to discuss the proposed "non-warranty clause" paragraphs with the Legal Committee who suggested them, and re port back. The General Safety Committee was called to order in the afternoon by Chairman D,0. Mason. I, APPROVAL OF MINUTES - The minutes of the meeting of November 6, 19h7 were approved as - amended. II, AMMONIUM NITRATE, FERTILIZER The 'Washington office letter of January 7, 19U8 was distributed. Interagency report. Part II, was distributed, and the error on page 8, Section 9, Line D, "stream" instead of "steam" was pointed out. III. INDUSTRIAL INJURY REPORT The 'Washington office will write the five member firms that have zero Frequency Rates so far this year, complimenting them on their achievement, and asking for details on their programs. IV. TANK CAR UNLOADING PLATFORMS A discussion of Drawing W89256, distributed to members on March 17 and again on October 10, 19U7 led to the appointment of a subcommittee consisting of Miner and Gilbert to (1-) review the six HGA tank car manuals and prepare recommendations, and (2) prepare a report di owing several types of loading and unloading platforms or towers. USUAL SHIPPING CONTAINERS SECTION The proposed rearrangement to include unloading and emptying in the Usual Shipping Containers section was discussed. It was agreed that no change would be made in the present outline. VI, WASTE DISPOSAL Arnold reported verbally on his survey of the waste disposal section and the difficulties in preparing a model section, Ke will check final drafts of the waste disposal sections of forthcoming data sheets, Simlliarly, each member of the G.S.C. agreed to give particular attention to this section, Arnold will continue his study of a model section. VII.... . STA1T..E..M...E..N..T....O. N COVER1 ' S--HEE'T1 It was regularly moved, seconded, and voted to include an appropriate introductory statement on the cover sheet of each of the data sheets. Miner will submit proposed wording. VIII. SULFURIC ACID Final draft of 1/12/1*8 was discussed. IX, NEXT MEETING ~r The next meeting will be held at 9.30 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 191*6 in Parlors E & H at the Hotel New Yorker, New Yorkj N, Y.
