Progress:
1. New Hot Strip Construction Study Schedule;
A revised (9-17-610 new Hot Strip Construction Study Schedule was released. Preparation of a preliminary CPM diagram from present information and assumptions is being prepared. Problem areas exist on structural steel (late start at beginning of winter) and electrical installation (magnitude of power, control and instrumentation work following vendor input, design review, and probable late electrical equipment delivery.) The resulting schedule indicates a testing period which cannot begin before May 1, 19o7
2. Waste Heat Boiler Study:.
A waste Heat Boiler Study for the No. 2 Open Hearth Shop has been completed and distributed. An economic comparison of the installation of six waste heat boilers with one 200,000 #/hr. fuel fired boiler was made. The study indicates many advantages of the six waste heat boilers, particularly if they are purchased with supplemental burners for fuel firing. An installation of this type will 'guarantee a fixed steam supply at minimum cost. Installation of these boilers will be instrumental in providing eventual solution to the No. 2 Open Hearth Shop air pollution problem.
