ntCTODOCTIOH Two water samples were received from the Delaware Ktvmx plant for analysis of their possible Aroclor (PCS) and 2,3,7,1-tatraehlorodibensofuran (2,3,7,1-TCDr) concentrations. Two additional sam ples, one water and one sludge were received for the analysis of their possible metal concentrations by Ion coupled plasms (1CP) spectrosonic analyses. The analytical results are shown in this report. Section one describes the TCDF enalyses, section 2 the PCS enalyses and section 3 the metal analyses.

Tha column was eluted with SO mL of hexan* with th* eluant going directly onto a column con taining 2.5 grams of Woelm basic alumina. This column was first alutad with 10 mL of 2% CHiCli/hexan* to remove PCI's and this fraction was discarded. Th* column was then eluted with IS mL of 50% CHaCl/hexaae and this fraction was saved and concentrated to 10 wL in a keeper of dodecane and submitted for GC/MS analysis.
The OC/MS analysis was carried out on a Hewlett Packard 5985B OC/kl system with the gas chromatorgraphic separations on a 60 mater SP-2990 capillary coluui. The mass spectrotwter was operated in

the selected ion monitoring node following ions characteristic of th TCDf' and the surrogates that were used. Quantitation wae achieved by ratioing the amount of 237$-TCDr in the sample to the amount of 1*Ci*-237l-TCDP which had been added to the water at the very outset of the extraction procedure. This isotoplcally labeled surrogate provides for accurate quantitation even though the actual recovery of the TCOf's can be quite variable. The results of the analyses are shown in Table 1. Included in the table are the results from the spiking studies in which native (non-isotopically labeled) TCDF was added to the samples.
