Ericson SUBJECT: February 5, 1973 KK-3/St. Thomas Plant-- Quality Level When we were evaluating the quality level of the St. Thomas MK-3 materials in the Scarborough laboratory last Thursday. I pointed out to you that there were a number of undispersed lumps of asbestos in that particular sample,. You stated that you were using JM7M02 in its pressure-pack form. I advised you that some ribbon blenders were not capable of breaking up and dispersing pressure-pack 7M02. I recommended that your next shipment of asbestos specify loose-pack. I can't tell you exactly how much improvement in quality you will get from this move. The nearest comparable situation was the Milwaukee plant where this change definitely dii improve quality.
