Biechler, c/o The Belco Light Co*, Dayton, Ohio* My dean Mr* Biechler: A Some days ago I wrote you enclosing a letter which 1 had written to Mr. Kettering in which a tfebtabive plan for expanding our research program was presented* I am very anxious to have, a frank expression of your re action to that plan as Soon as possible, because in the near future it will be necessary for me to decide definite ly on several matters related to our work during the coming year* For a number of reasons it will be- necessary for me to curtail some of the experimental work we are now doing, or make some arrangement for providing more space* 1 am going east in about ten days,and/at that time I expect to lay these matters before the President of the Ethyl Gasoline Corporation. I have every reason to believe that a v;ay may be developed for continuing and enlarging upon certain phases of our experimental work* It may be that you have thought that my suggestions required too much expenditure of time and money, and that you have not ; wished to engage in such an enterprise. In that case, I am risking the chance that you may misunderstand me in thinking that I am attempting thus to re-open the matter on a different scale* However, in nob wishing to make an arrangement which might exclude the possibility of carry ing out work which you may still wish us to undertake, I am merely reciprocating the courtesy you have shown me *' Will you be good enough, therefore, to let me know at your earliest convenience what you think of the general terms of my proposalj and whether you wish to have us consider you in on a program which we shall soon map out for the year*s work* Very truly yours* RAEsOJ
