April 50, 1975 TO: ALL EMPLOYEES SUBJECT: VINYL CHLORIDE MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE PROGRAM The 03HA Vinyl Chloride Standard that went into effect April 1, 1975 requires that em ployees exposed to vinyl chloride be included in a medical surveillance program* OSHA recommends, and Uniroyal concurs, that an expanded medical surveillance program should be initiated, which includes: Medical history Blood tests Chest X-ray Pulmonary function analysis Urinalysis EKO Hand X-rays (will be given to all poly cleaners) a. 3*3 Ocn' cn All employees of the Painesville Plant will be scheduled to participate in this program In order to efficiently and effectively carry out this program. Uniroyal has contracted a mobile health unit through Medi-Contp, Inc* to come to the plant site and perform all tests* This unit will be at the plant from Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 9- The entire testing takes approximately 30 minutes and employees will be scheduled in six minute intervals, from 6:30 A*M. to 5:30 P*M* Testing will be conducted on each side of the plant as scheduled. This is a very tight schedule, particularly for chemie production operations, so we ask for the full cooperation of each employee in meeting t scheduled time for testing and the various requirements for the tests* Please check the schedule posted on the bulletin boards for your time and identificatio number* This identification number is important for identifying each test with the em ployee* Individual reminders will also be put on your time cards to assure your scheduled time is met* If you are scheduled to work at a different time than shown on the schedule, please inform the I* R. Department* Some employees had to be scheduled on overtime following or immediately prior to their shift so we could get all employees properly scheduled* Also, to save time, etc., for the urinalysis test, please bring a urine sample for when you are scheduled for testing. The expanded medical surveillance program provides a good analysis of every employee's health and we feel this is an added benefit for each employee* Again, please be sure to meet your scheduled time for testing so this program can be properly conducted for all employees of the plant* Any further questions should be referred to the I* R* Department.
