Dear Dr. Kehoe: As I mentioned to you on. the telephone a few weeks ago, the lawsuit against us for the death of some cattle will be going td trial either the second or third week in April. I believe from the enclosed information, you will find that you will be able to be of service to us. * We realize that the enclosed reports are lengthy and we would like to call your attention to the specific spectrochemical analyses that were performed on several of the dead animals. The quantitative amount of lead found in the kidney and liver of the dead animals are reported in the attached enclosures. They show the maximum amount of lead found in any animal to be 4 p.p.m. of lead in the kidney and0.6 p.p.m. of lead in the liver. All of the literature that we have been able to check indicates that levels of 40 p.p.m. and 20 p.p.m. of lead, respectively, in kidney and liver to be positive cause for lead poisoning. Since the values reported in the analyses are considerably under 40 p.p.m and 20 p.p.m. of lead, it leaves doubt in our minds that the cattle actually died from lead poisoning.
