Ashby Date January 27, 1982 Subject Personnel Noise Exposure Attached are the results of the eight-hour personnel noise dosimeter testing conducted during July, September, October, December, 1981 and January, 1982. A total of thirty-one (31) samples were taken. The average noise exposure was 12.68 percent of the allowable limit (100% is equal to 90 dBA exposure averaged over 8 hours). The highest level recorded during this period was on a welder with 76 percent of the allowable exposure limit. The welder was exposed to grinder and chipping gun noise inside the welding shop for the en tire duration of the sample period. Overall, the data indicates personnel noise exposure to be well within accepta ble limits. A comparison of the 1981 data (12.68%) with data collected during 1977 (10.23%) and 1979 (9.18%) indicates no significant increase in employee noise exposure. We will continue to place a high p.riority on our in-plant noise abatement and exposure control program to insure that out personnel are free from excessive noise exposure. S. R.
