Mr. John Romine Phillips Petroleum Company Research 6 Development Department Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003
Dear Mr. Roinine:
Mr. Carl Clay of our company asked me to write you concerning the fish toxicity of our chlorobiphenyls (contained in functional fluids). We have tested the following fluids with the indicated results?
Substance
Blueglll Sunflsh
Aroclor 1242 Jtroclor 1248 Aroclor 1254
Aroclor 12C0
Wo effect Mo effect No effect
No effect
Ho effect No effect Ho effect
Mo effect
Note: The levels used were 5 ppm.
The* reason 5 ppm. was used in these standard static fish toxicity tests was because that level is well above the water solubility of any of the substances tested. In short, none of these sub stances is toxic to the organisms listed at their solubility.
We have never had any fish toxicity difficulties with customers using these products.
If I can be of any further help, please feel free to call.
Sincerely,
JTO/ln cc: Mr. Carl Clay
