Motion was made by R* A. He outlined the plana for the Annual Heating to bo held at Hotel Drake, Chicago, Illinois, during the week of April 23, 18*3. The Americas industrial Hygiene Association Meetinga will be held April 25 and 28, He also gave a report of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the American Aasooiatioc of Industrial Physicians and Surgeons held in Chicago, October 4, thloh was attended by rep resentatives of -the various associations ehioh will meet jointly with the aaI?I:3 in 1945* Desert * Cook and Barnes attended this meeting as .representatives of the aIHA., The general plans for the 1945 meeting appeared to be safci sfactcry, although the following two suggestions were made to the aaIR&o during this meeting sod were! confirmed by letter to Dr, Holabled, October 7, 1944 - The AIHA is particularly interested in avoiding, as vueh as possible, any conflioting prograsui where subjects of broad interest to both Associations might be pre sented simultaneously, also the appointment of several oaendttee chairmen to cooperate with the corresponding oommittee ohairmen frost the AAIPAS* Motion was made by II. H. Dchrenk, aeoocded by S. G. Heitor, and unanimously approved, that the AlHA soientifie exhibits be looated jointly with other scien tific exhibits. Motion was aiade by R. A. hehoe, seconded by H. II. Sohrenk, and unanimously approved, that the AlHA make no effort to purchase or provide prises for scien tific exhibits. The reports of R. a, Aehoe and ft. a . Cook eere unanimously approved. In aooordanoe with a previous action taken by the Hoard of Directors at their meeting on Hay 10, 1944, the names of three persons had bees submitted for consideration to present the Donald CvmingA' Memorial Lecture at the 1945 meeting. After dlsoussion, it was agreed by the Board of Directors to select the person who would be requested to present the Leeture by written ballot. Wot ion was made by ft. C. L. Hemeon, seconded by C. C. Harrold, that the Secretary and Treasurer oonticue with their duties as at present, with a fee of 4100 a year allowed for additional help to carry out their duties. This motion was not voted upon, and another was made by If. C. L. Hem*on, seconded by H. H. Schrenk, that the Committee's report on a paid executive secretary be tabled* On being pub to vote this notion was defeated* notion was made by H. Bearditch, seconded by ft. M. T.itharidge, and unanimously approved, that the Board of Directors favor the appointment of Anna Beetjer, Ph.D., as Executive Secretary and that President Bloomfield be requsstsd to disouss this matter with her, including such items as proposed duties and remuneration, and that President Bloomfield be empowered to assign such duties and at sueh remuneration as may be neeessary up to 500 a year. Bloomfield than presented the following petition, signed by 21 persons, 15 being member* of the AIHA. This petition has been prepared in compliance with Artiole IV, Section I of the Constitution and By-Laws" Motion was mad* by 0* C. Harrold, ssoonded by H. H. Sohrenk, and unanimously approved, that the petition for permission to form a ftashlngton-Baltlmore Section of the AIHA be aooepted. The proposed Constitution and By-laws for the Wash ingtcn-Balt imore Scotion were presented by J. <7. Bloomfield. Upon motion by 0. C. Harrold, ssoonded by ft . V. Witheridge, they were unanisu>usly approved* Motion was mads by M. Bowditoh, seconded by H. H. Mr* hitheridge then presented a letter front Professor jailer, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State, requesting information as to whether the AIEA. would oar* to appoint a person to meet with a aansittee of the -umerioen Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers at their January meting* Motion was made by 0* C* Harrold, seconded by W* d, Bradley, and unanimously approved, that Mr* Withe ridge be appointed to act as liaison man with the jQ*rlcan Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers to explore the wishes of that Association further* Sinoe J. H. Littlefield, Treasurer, oould not be present at this meeting, a brief report of the Treasurer was read by the Secretary. In this report Mr. Littlefield recoroaended that w* invest all cash above 1,000 in war bonds. Sino* this matter was oovered by previous aotion of the Board of Directors, no further discussion was had. After some discussion, a motion was made by M. Bowditoh, seconded by H. <* Schrenk, that an employment committee be appointed by the President to oonsider any procedure* which the Association night take in connection with the general problem of employment of industrial hygiene personnel.
