A letter regarding asbestos identification and elimination is attached for your information. S&PP and CED have the following preliminary proposal for your consideration. 1. Change the specifications in the CED standards to elimi nate asbestos in pipeline gaskets wherever practical. 2. Change/update the workplace guidelines in accordance with proposed OSHA regulations. 3. Require asbestos in-line gaskets to be replaced with non-asbestos gaskets with repair/replacement projects. 4. Valve and other speciality application specifications will be asbestos free unless impractical or unless a plant location requests asbestos. We would appreciate your comments and position regarding asbestos, as well as any additional assistance which may be C 000090 LAM022001 required in identifying problem areas or developing procedures to remove asbestos.
