Dear Dr. Kehoe:
I have just returned from a trip through the southeast and find your letter of March 13th and the accompanying statements cover-" ing services rendered in connection with the research project. Two checks covering these services, as requested, will go forward within the next ten days.
Since writing to you last we have consulted with our Washington counsel on the matter of applying for a listing of lead acetate as an approved color additive and we are now familiar with the necessary procedures. However, our counsel advises us that a meeting with Dr. Fitzhugh should be a prerequisite to the filing of such a petition. Until we can be assured that your research report has been accepted and that no further research is required a petition could bring about a negative reaction that might prove a severe setback.
Accordingly, we would very much appreciate your contacting Dr. Fitzhugh to set up a meeting in Washington at which we hope you could be present to answer any questions regarding your report that might be asked. Mr. Ivan Combe and I will repre sent our Committee.
If you think it more proper that we write to Dr. Fitzhugh to set up this meeting, we would be glad to do so.
Our people are anxious to remove once and for all the cloud that has hung over our industry and we hope that an early meeting in Washington can be arranged.
With kindest personal regards,
Cordially yours,
JG :js
