We are in general agreement that It would be desirable to in form NIOSH of the work which we are planning to do on vinyl chloride. However, we question the advisability of making the Initial contact as high up as the Director of NIOSH. It would seem more appropriate to us to have a couple members who have been active In our Technical Task Group, one of whom should be competent to go into detail regarding the known toxicology and the planned studies, visit Dr. Herbert Stocklnger as head of the NIOSH Toxicology Laboratory and also of the TLV Committee. All we have at present la animal data. If we go to the top NIOSH people at this time they may read ax>re Into our approach than la justified. Zf Dr. Stocklnger feels that we should go higher then we would be obligated. Our contact with Stocklnger should not be a casual discussion at a meeting.
