The Nitro plant work and medical history study and the interjection of Dr. Sel i k o f f et al b y the Steelworkers has r e s u l t e d in a series o f meetings h e r e at the GO, with a variety of participants. I believe that we are just beginning to see what will become a major thrust on the part of the unions in future years. There are obvious ramifications that affect DMEH, Labor Relations, Personnel Law, Public Relations, as well as the line organizations. There appears to be some uncertainty as to who should assume the leadership role in such questions a nd what is the d e s i r e d level o f parti c i p a t i o n by each of the groups mentioned.
MIC feels that a Corporate protocol should be established to facilitate- more rapid and efficient handling of such matters as they arise in the future. Your assistance in establihsing such a protocol is solicited. I will be happy to assist in any w a y I can.
