The following information is submitted: (1) Name of Owner or Operator Shell Oil Company (2) Address of Owner or Operator One Shell Plaza, Houston, Texas 77002 (3) Description of Facility Involved (a) A vessel, Shell item number V-1149, 10' 0" diameter by 25' 0" tangent-to-tangent, insulated with approximately 1800 square feet of friable asbestos material. (b) Approximately 40 linear feet of 14-inch pipe insulated with friable asbestos material. (4) Location of Facility Involved Deer Park Manufacturing Complex, Deer Park, Texas (5) Scheduled Starting and Completion Dates Starting Date: March 28, 1977 Completion Date: April 28, 1977 LAM 020756 MSS-001564 Regional Administrator, Region VI 2 (6) Procedures to Be Employed (a) The friable asbestos insulation materials shall be stripped from vessel and piping in place. The weather-proof covering will be removed and the exposed asbestos material will be wetted. The wetted asbestos material will be promptly removed and placed in fiberboard drums lined with heavy-weight plastic bags. Filled drums shall have plastic liner bags tied tightly at the top, lids installed, warning labels affixed in accordance with the regulations, and stored, adequately protected from weather, pending transportation to an approved disposal site or facility. (b) As sufficient asbestos wastes are accumulated, they will be transported by truck to Texas Ecologists, Inc. at Robstown, Texas, for final disposal.
