The American Medical Association's 113th Annual Convention will be held June 21.25 in San Francisco. An attendance of about 40,000, including more than 14,000 physicians is . expected. A well-balanced scientific program will be presented for the physicians. J. James H. Huguet, Ethyl Corporation, Technical Program Chairman for APCA' s 571 Annual Meeting to be held in Houston, Texas, at the Shamrock Hilton Hotel, June 21 to 25, 196 has reported a record number of offerings of papers for the technical program. A total numbe: of 129 abstracts had been received in time to be reviewed by members of his committee at a meeting held in New Orleans, on December 13, 1963. The tentative preliminary program outlir was prepared at this time and schedules a keynote session on Monday morning and three con current sessions on Monday afternoon, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and after noons. Based on recommendations of previous Annual Meeting Committees, plant trips will be conducted concurrently with the Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon sessions this year. -- J. Air Poll. Control Assn. 14, 70 (Feb.1964 313 International Diabetes Federation. The Fifth Congress of the International Diabetes Federation will convene in Toronto Canada, Juiy 20 to 24, 1964. The American Diabetes Association is participating in the Fifth Congress, instead of its regular postgraduate program and annual meeting in 1964. The Congi is being held under the joint sponsorship of the Canadian Diabetic Association and the Univers of Toronto. The entire program is so arranged that all workers interested in diabetes should find an area of particular interest. More information concerning the Congress, including regi tration and abstract forms, is enclosed in a brochure which will be sent upon request. Pathol. 41, 211 (Feb. 1964) 314 Three Top Physicians Endorse Fluoridation. Three of the most widely known physicians in the nation have publicly endorsed the use of fluoridated drinking water, according to "California's Health". They are Dr. C. W. Mayo, head of the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Benjamin Spock, pediatrician, and Dr. Paul Dudley White, cardiologist. Dr. Mayo cites water fluoridation as a great advance in pre ventive medicine in a statement endorsing the measure. Dr. Spock considers fluoridation "A wonderful preventive measure which does not depend on the parents' means or on their conscienciousness or on the availability of dentists. " Dr. White states that "Elderly.people with (tired hearts) need have no fear of fluoridated water. It is safe for all." There.are presently about 51,000,000 people in the United States drinking fluoridated water. When New York City begins fluoridation later this year the total will jump to 59,000,000. --Am. Soc.
